Emma Branson

Student Co-Director

Hi! I’m Emma, one of the student co-directors for Intertwined this year! My role mostly consists of outreach and communication. I am currently a first-year student majoring in journalism with a minor in Planning, Public Policy, and Management and a second minor in Environmental Studies. In the future, I hope to work in administration, storytelling, and advocacy. I joined the Intertwined team to learn more about the UO community and help make a positive impact! My goals for this year’s events would include reaching more community members through our social media and digital platforms and ensuring all participants feel comfortable and encouraged in our environment. Some of my hobbies include reading books, coaching youth sports, and spending time with loved ones.

I am one of the two Student Co-Directors for Intertwined’s Storytelling Project for the 2025–26 academic year. As a member of the Intertwined team, I help lead the planning and execution of storytelling workshops and events, support storytellers, and collaborate with campus partners to ensure the project reflects Intertwined’s mission of centering diverse voices and lived experiences. I’m a second-year Advertising major with double minors in Business Administration and Media Studies. My career interests include creative direction, corporate communications, and DEI-related work. During my time at the University of Oregon, I aim to build a strong academic and professional foundation that prepares me for the next step in my career. I joined the Intertwined team because I’ve always believed in the power of storytelling to shape perception and build connection. As an Advertising major, I’ve wanted to apply these values by uplifting and connecting people and their stories from diverse backgrounds. Intertwined has allowed me to do exactly that, aligning closely with my passion for inclusive storytelling and meaningful community impact. One of my main goals is to increase engagement and awareness around Intertwined’s events. I hope to do this through a mix of strategic outreach, including social media, printed materials, and collaborative partnerships across campus. Ultimately, I want workshops and events to feel accessible, impactful, and empowering for all participants. Outside of school and work, I enjoy spending time with friends and exploring new parts of Eugene whenever I get the chance. I also love caring for and growing my rare houseplant collection. On campus, I’m actively involved in multiple multicultural organizations and currently serve as Vice President of Chinese Banzhang, the only Chinese cultural club at the University of Oregon. In this role, I oversee outreach initiatives, help plan hands-on weekly meetings focused on Chinese culture, language, history, and diaspora, and work closely with university departments. I’ve also played a key role in helping Chinese Banzhang gain recognition through the University of Oregon’s Multicultural Center.
