Reflection:

In the article “Copyright and remix culture: The new Prohibition?“, Mathew writes that “The principle behind copyright has been taking a beating from “remix culture”, driven in large part by YouTube and other video sites. Is the rise of the YouTube generation changing the way that we think about copyright — and if so, should we let that happen?” This is the main idea of this article, and this also achieve one of my objectives, which is “Examine their own and others values and paradigms of ownership and authorship of cultural media.”

This article helps me realize that in modern society, technology develops too fast. And one of the vital part in technology is media. Therefore, there are a lot of issues between the media and the copyright. In the article, Mathew points out that remix culture that may change the way that we look at copyright for good and effect revenue of some modern media companies. Is this good or bad? It is hard to say, however, in my opinion, the way to solve this copyright problem is to improve the limitation of copyright, and treat differently between business and individual. In other words, if people use copyright to make money or make income, we need to treat this as illegal. However, on the other hand, if people use the remix art individually, we can ignore it.

Future:

Because the government cannot do anything about the copyright problem, many artists have decided to leave making music or movies. I think I cannot do anything to help them either. However, I will not buy any copy disc and I will buy legal copy. Because I respect the artists and their inputs.
