Reflection:
Like what I said in my post, people love horror films is because people enjoy being scared. Furthermore, people always feel curious about something that will never ever exist in the world and they want to see the things that do not exist. For somebody else, they just scare themselves when they are watching a horror film. Because, to me, the most scared part in the horror film is not something like ghosts and zombies, instead, it is the pictures made by the directors. Directors always make the audiences feel that something is coming out, however, there is nothing. I believe that is the reason we call horror films as a kind of art.
I know that horror movie has the unique aesthetic qualities. However, what is the unique aesthetic qualities? First of all, I admire the directors of horror films, because before they make a horror movie, they have to understand something do not exist. Then, they have to show what understand, and how much they understand. In other words, the directors have to show the audiences what is horror by their own understandings. This is hard. Because, as a fan of directing, I can hardly show something normally in my film, and as a horror director, he needs to show something that do not exist to the audiences, and he has to make sure they totally understand it. I think this is the answer of “what is the unique aesthetic qualities.”
Future:
Although I do not like watching horror films, I still will watch some of them. Not for the “horror” part, but for the “film” part. I would like to study some more directing skills from these films.
