“State Right to Rest legislation would permit people to sleep, sit, lay down, and protect themselves from the elements in public spaces, including sidewalks.” (Ellison) This article shows actions behind and thoughts behind having a law passed making it legal for homeless people to sleep on the sidewalks. Currently homeless are allowed during the day but cannot legally sleep on public property over night. This article gives a better explanation of the law that needs to be passed in Oregon for this to be legal.
