Class 8: Using Resources

This day was FUN! We had a scavenger hunt. It was a scavenger hunt to find all the resources that are at our disposal. My partner and I found the computer lab, a place to go for free tutoring, the place where we can sign up for internships, and where the personal study rooms are for accounting majors. To know where these places are will come in handy later in the year when I take high level business courses. The really exciting part of this hunt was meeting the president of our school Mr. Gottfredson and asking him questions. We ended the meet and greet with a selfie with him.

Class 7:Branding Your Uniqueness

On this day we got to self reflect on our values. The values I resonated with were ambitious, encouraging, and persuasive. I would like to think I am ambitious because whether it is as simple as talking to a cute girl that I have no chance with or it be learning about investments at age sixteen, I go for it. I consider myself to be an encouraging person because I have met people in my life that feel sad, unloved, misunderstood, and they just need to be reminded how Jesus Christ sees them. I also consider myself persuasive because I use to sell CutCo knives to parents, and the employees competed with each other to sell the most knives. I sold the most knives in one month than anyone else in the office and in the LA region. These values will be very beneficial when I become a CEO, and make a difference in the world with the help of God.

Class 6: Academic Direction 2

On this day we learned how to prepare for the future when it comes to our academics, and what we would like to do for a career. We discussed about what classes we can take to satisfy University requirements, but also would  help us in the professional world. This information was not anything new to me because I have thought about it before and I planned to do just that. I liked hearing from other students the classes their taking because someone mentioned they were taking Design, and it got me thinking about taking a 3D design class. I could use what I learn from that class in the field of marketing if I wish.

Class 5: Academic Direction

On this day the class learned about the different business majors, and we heard feedback from students that are currently concentrating on a certain field. Oh! For the first time ever I learned about ISOM which is the application of technology in businesses. This class session was really good for someone like me who is interested in finance, management, and marketing. I was able to hear from the students what those concentrations offer. I wish I can say, after this class I knew exactly what I wanted to concentrate on, but it made it more complicated. All three majors sounded really interesting, and they fascinated me even more.  Hopefully, as the years goes by I will narrow down the choices.

Class 4: Learning Styles

This class was very helpful to me. I learned how to properly prepare for an exam/quizzes depending on my leadership style. Since I am a builder I would first review in groups to refresh my mind with the material. After that I would go over the homework problems. Then go over notes and lectures. After this class I realized my study habits are a work in progress because I use to just do the homework problems and go take the test. I also learned something about myself. I able to compered more when  I work with one or two people. This study habit will help me prepare for all my midterms and finals.

Class 3 Group Challenge Project

On this day we were put in groups based on our leadership styles. In my group I had Sara, Joey, and Melissa. The assignment for the class was to choose a project we can implement as a group. As a group we decided to go with project three. Since our project was to create an awareness campaign for winter BBL seminar, everyone in the group exchanged cellphone numbers and we decided to meet again on Monday to discuss how we would tackle this project.

Leadership Styles

10/9/14

Today I learned about my natural leadership style. Not only that, but also the leadership styles I was lacking. My natural style is being a builder. I completely agree with the group I was assigned to because I am that person that takes action then thinks about the situation, and I did realize that I do listen to everyone’s opinion, but not my own. I learned that it is okay to listen to my own opinion also, and it is okay to share my opinion’s too because it is just as important as the other group members. I need to improve my skills in planning, organizing, and closing. The one skill that is definitely my blind side is organizing. I look forward to learning from my peers that are better than me in those areas, but most of all from the older generations.
