Life Value Assessment
Life Value

For my perspective, all these values are really important to me. However, the most important one is family, because I have come to America for three year. I just come back to my hometown once a year. Now I have less time to accompany with my parents, so I think family is the most value for me. I want to have more time with my family. Other values on the list have no special for me.

Today is Saturday, I didn’t have class. I got up at 7:30am, I think that get up early is a good for my health, I think human life only once. We need to have a nice body to take care our family and ourselves. If people who don’t have a healthy body could not take care others. I also eat breakfast and lunch for my health. I cooked for myself which increase my independence. I did the homework at afternoon, I think this can increase my wisdom because I can learn many things through doing homework. Doing homework not only can increase my wisdom but also can help my personal development because I can get a good job if my score is good when I studied at school.

I think that I inherited the independence from my family. My parents don’t come to home very frequently due to their job. Therefore I can cook when I was around 10 years old. I still think I am more independent than same age people. I go aboard to study until now, I think I am an independent person. The nearest goal for me is to get master degree. This belongs to my personal development. I study hard now for my goals.

Reflection:

In this life value assessment assignment, I considered what activities I did in that day. I learned to think about what these activities represent. Through these activities, I consider about their values. In the article, “in order to sort out our basic choices, we need to construct a framework in which personal value can be defined, compared and contrasted”(Lewis, 1990, p6). It means that the beat way to choose personal value is to create framework.

I evaluate the life value in my post and the result is at the top in the picture. I notice that many people put family in the first place, but I put it as second. My first life value is health, I think only healthy person can take care their family. There fore, to keep personal health can let people have more vim to do other things. For myself, I’m overweight a little bit. After that week, I made a plan to loss weight. I go to the gym everyday. I want to get a healthy body to take care my family. When talks about family, I think it also is very important in human life. I study aboard in the U.S. I can go back to China once a year. Therefore, it is difficult to see my parents. I realized that I need to call my parents frequently. For the third life value personal development, I also have a big plan. If I want get a better job, I need to get a higher degree. Therefore I have registered for IElTS test. I’m non English speaker. I must take this test if I want to apply for the master degree. There is a picture that I cut below. This is the first stage for my plan. (I cut this part of the screen because I don’t want to expose my personal information to public)

Future Goal:

In the future, I need to learn how to evaluate things and I also need to improve the relationship between me and my parents. I will also remain my plan to keep my health. As different age has different goal, I think this is suit for me now. I will change my value system when I grow up, but health and family will always place in the first and second.
