Don’t Drink the Kool Aid…or the Water

During the fall of 2015, students and faculty returned to the University of Oregon campus for another fantastic school year.  The fall quarter is typically the high point of the year due to the excited feel of being back on campus, making new friends, taking new classes, and of course the highlight of any Oregon weekend; UO Football games.

Unfortunately this fall was met with a violent opponent: Cholera.  This terrible disease, normally native to those areas with a polluted water supply, found its way into the campus water system.  This outbreak only lasted from the weekend of 25th October until 30th October.  However brief this outbreak was, it still caused numbers deaths and untold panic and grief.

During the mist of this horrific event four students (named Ellie, Luke, Kengo, and Peter) took it upon themselves to research the effects of cholera, document the deaths/reported symptoms, analyse social media outlets, and track down the source of the outbreak.  Because of these four, the source of the outbreak was found and contained before anymore damage could be done to this campus.  What you find on this website is all the information that they obtained and documented.
