There are three major steps in the DMA & PhD programs:
- completion of coursework and comprehensive exams,
- advancement to candidacy*,
- completion of the degree.
*Advancement to Candidacy: As soon as the student has successfully passed the GEE and other degree-required proficiencies, all degree coursework, required degree recitals, the comprehensive examination, and the proposal has been approved, the ADGS will recommend to the Division of Graduate Studies that the student be advanced to candidacy.
