Artifact 3: Food as Art Research

Goals
- Examine methods for evaluating qualities of art, such as product versus process, the difference between craft and fine art, must art be archival, and what is an aesthetic reaction.
- Explore the notion of food as an artform.
- Consider cultural differences in the production and consumption food.
Reflection:
I think that this artifact is the best possible example I have in my growth in computer skills in this course. When I did this project I took a bit of a risk and instead of writing an academic paper I decided to make a video of myself sharing a meal with my family and then creating a dialog with them on what makes food art.
This proved to be a challenging task for me, it really pushed my abilities with a computer and forced me to educate my self on a couple different programs. The actual technical making of the video was my biggest challenge and I really think that I was able to expand my horizons in my computing ability, I learned a lot of new skills and I am quite proud that I decided to challenge myself in this way. I used a multitude of programs for the first time, or in ways I had not used them before. I filmed the video on one device and used drop box for the first time to transfer files. I had to figure out some more advanced techniques in iMovie than I had ever used before. Lastly this was the first time I had ever uploaded a video on to YouTube. I then expanded my word press abilities by figuring out how to properly link the actual video, which probably took more effort than it should have.
Future:
As I said before I think that I learned a lot of new skills and these skills will directly benefit me in the future. Also after finishing this project I felt inspired to work more to expand my skills on a computer even further. I think this is something that I will receive a direct benefit from for a long time and it directly ties to values in terms of learning and developing mastery.
