Timelines are a great way to see the unfolding of events across time. They work well as a teaching tool to track a sequence of events. However, timelines are also a great way to present a story as a chronological sequence.
While UOBlogs does not have a timeline widget (yet!), you can easily embed a timeline tool in your site. First you’ll want to make the timeline using a tool like Timeline JS (another great tool from the Knight Lab): https://timeline.knightlab.com/
Once you’ve built your timeline you can embed it into a page of your WordPress site.
First, create a new page on your WordPress site where the timeline will live.
Next, click on the green “Make a Timeline” box on the Timeline JS site and follow the steps. The instructions will guide you to the point where you produce a “code.” For now hold on to that code.
Return to your WordPress dashboard page you’ve created for the Timeline. Click on the tab above the text box that says, “add media.” From there you’ll want to scroll down to the tab that says, “Insert Embed Code.” Go back to the Timeline site where you left your code. Copy and paste it into the WordPress page.
Don’t forget to hit save or update whenever you work on a page, otherwise your work will be lost.
