First-Generation Student Celebration 2021

First Generation Student Celebration 2021

This year we are hosting multiple events to celebrate, support, and spotlight First Generation students, staff, faculty, and alumni!

PART 1: 4th Annual First-Generation Student Celebration!

Please join us for the 4th Annual First-Generation Student Celebration on Monday, November 8th from 11am-1pm with remarks and a First-Gen Panel beginning around 11:30am. After the panel there will be boxed lunches and drinks available, then networking and mingling with other first gen students, faculty, staff, and alumni.

PART 2: Dollars & Sense Workshop

We invite First-Generation college students to learn about Financial Wellness and Financial Literacy at Dollars & Sense on Tuesday, November 9th from 11am-Noon in Justice Bean Hall Classroom. This event will be presented by the UO Financial Wellness Center.

PART 3: Identifying and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome Workshop

Students are invited to attend the Identifying and Overcoming Imposter Syndrome session on Wednesday, November 10th from 11am-Noon presented by the Holden Center for Leadership and Community Engagement. This workshop discusses what imposter feelings are and how they show up in our day-to-day lives. Participants will take a quick assessment to learn about their unique “imposter type” to better understand when and how they experience imposter feelings and how they impact us. Next, we will discuss the interconnectedness of identities, environment, and imposterism. Lastly, participants will also engage in discussion to create strategies that allow them to overcome their imposter feelings.
