CT FAQ

1. Can teachers on AB day schedules be CTs? Yes

In winter, teacher candidates actively support you in the classroom for 20 hours a week, but student teach for just one class period. So, it would be one of the classes on an A-day or B-day. In semesters, most CTs have a time when a new unit begins after spring break, and it makes sense to transition the student teacher being lead then, since it no longer lines up with the beginning of a new term in 4J.

By spring term, student teacher needs to take over a minimum of 2/3 of the teaching load. In an A/B block schedule, that is a minimum of 4 out of 6 of the teaching/co-teaching class periods. Then student teachers would have 2 prep periods one on each day.
