4 Midterm Followup

1. For Friday 10/23, 1pm:  Create a blogpost about your progress to date, with at least 200 words about what you learned from your Midterm review.  Include highlight images or one image linked to a PDF.  Include at least one diagram or sketch how you plan to go forward.  How to Post

2. Friday: visit either the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art or the Museum of Cultural and Natural History.  Draw or paint an object that speaks to you.  Think about why you think it is beautiful, what aspects of color, form, proportion, material appeal to you and how you can use principles on your own projects.

3. For Monday:  Read about Shenzhen and Portland, pick a site and develop base images.

 

Nancy Cheng

Univ. of Oregon Architecture Department head Nancy Yen-wen Cheng, RA, LEED AP researches how design tools and approaches shape outcomes, with a specialization in how craft and computation can stimulate the creative process. She has developed expertise in manipulating sheet materials to create light-modulating structures and has researched how surface relief patterns can increase convective cooling. She has developed fold and slot joints that give structural rigidity to foldable sheet structures and is eager to apply them to rapidly deployable refugee shelters.
