Assignment Description: Students will create an event poster for their midterm. One of the primary challenges in Event Poster design is working with applying content in a larger space/format. The expectation is to work with a common poster design size of 11×17. Issues of working with images, artwork, typography, and other design elements will be addressed.
I designed a poster for ELAN’s upcoming fundraiser Beats & Brushstrokes. We’re holding a competition so we’ll see if mine is chosen.
Reflection: Since I decided to make a poster for Beats & Brushstrokes, I had to make everything black and white. I had the idea of putting the words on a record and thought it would be pretty easy. It turned out, typing on a path (especially an arced path) is very difficult. I had to play the with the paths a lot and I’m still not completely satisfied with them. Also, the words in the center of the album took up a lot more space than I expected, so I had to put them on many different arcs. All the information is made up because the event details are still TBA. The biggest problem is the color changed when I saved it as a PDF. The image is now a lot greyer. I’m not sure how to fix this.
