Brief summary of the source:
This source effectively describes the plight of U.S. veterans who are in school and using the GI bill. It also discusses how veterans can effectively transition themselves back into society and also college life. This article is not meant for the veteran but the colleges the veteran planes to attend.
Why did you choose it?
It is relevant to my issue. It also provides me with data to back up some claims I may make in one of my projects. Also the article is written by Elizabeth O’Herrin the former Associate Director of the American Council on Education.
How did you find it? Be specific.
I found it by first going to CQ researcher and typing in my issue. Then I took the title of an article from CQ researcher and plugged it into Google. There I found the article.
Where does this source get its information?
The source gets its information from the Department of Defense and several other articles written by members of the American Council on Education.
Who/what funds this source and how?
Several government agencies and also other foundations fund this source. The most noted funder is the Department of Education and also MetLife foundation.
Who is its audience?
Its audience is colleges.
What is its agenda?
The sources agenda is to inform colleges what veterans need in order for them to have success in college.
Could the funding and the agenda be related? How?
Yes I believe they are because the foundations are mostly loan and insurance companies. Also the Department of Education is funding it so that may be a big reason why they are focused on veterans.
What information is it leaving out?
They are leaving out the fact that the GI bill only covers 3 years of college. Also they are leaving out how the benefits hinder the veteran from receiving any other types of grants other than financial aid.

This source goes deep into how and why veterans go back to school or why they don’t. Also it gives great data that shows that veterans are not using all the benefits giving to them do to certain circumstances.
Why did you choose it?
It is relevant to my issue. It shows how veterans react when they get out of the military. It also shows hard data and facts about veterans transitioning to college life.
How did you find it? Be specific.
I found it by going to the University of Oregon library website and searched my issue and also made sure the articles were peer reviewed.
Where does this source get its information?
A number of other articles and two government agencies which are the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense

The source is funded by the University of Washington.
Who is its audience?
Its audience is veterans and also the colleges they may attend.
What is its agenda?
To inform veterans and colleges they may attend that veterans are different and they need just as much help as traditional college students.
Could the funding and the agenda be related? How?
I don’t think so.
What information is it leaving out?
I can honestly say that this was done well. It did not leave out anything that I could tell or am aware of.

This source narrows veteran transition down by interviewing 24 veteran students. They let the students give their perspective then the authors then give their overall analysis of the veterans concerns and interest about college life and tips on how to adjust.
Why did you choose it?
It is relevant to my issue. It was written by three authors and two of them were in the military.
How did you find it? Be specific.
I found it by going to the University of Oregon library website and searched my issue and also made sure the articles were peer reviewed.
Where does this source get its information?
They gathered most of their information from the Defense Manpower Data Center and also the Department of Defense. They also used several other articles.
Who/what funds this source and how?
John Wiley and Sons Inc. is the only company funding this source.
Who is its audience?
The audience is all veterans who are attending college and all colleges that have veterans.
What is its agenda?
The agenda is to inform colleges and also veterans about the challenges and also the benefits of veterans attending college.
Could the funding and the agenda be related? How?
Yes because the company that funds the article is also trying to get the article published in college handbooks and other tools that are used to persuade veterans to come to their school.
What information is it leaving out?
It does not leave out anything it has both sides covered. It allows veterans give an input in what is being written.

To show that it is typical for veterans to struggle adjusting to college life.
Could the funding and the agenda be related? How?
No.
What information is it leaving out?
They leave nothing out they even discuss mental health issues.

An article I found while on CQ researcher had almost the exact same title. When I plugged it into Google it pulled up this article.
Where does this source get its information?
It gets its information from an actual veteran.
Who/what funds this source and how?
A lot of different advertisers.
Who is its audience?
The audience is veterans and their families.
What is its agenda?
To show that it is typical for veterans to struggle adjusting to college life.
Could the funding and the agenda be related? How?
I find no evidence that the government funds the website, but I cannot believe they don’t have a little bit of a say of what goes on there.
What information is it leaving out?
They do not talk much about mental health or adjusting to other parts of life.
