Ceremonial Powwow in Celilo Village, Oregon.

Louis Van Pelt, from the Umatilla tribe, and his wife hold their new baby as they wait for him to dance. He and Logan Quamets drum together during ceremonial dances. He traveled from Pendleton, Oregon with his family for the powwow.
A member from the Umatilla Tribe travels from Pendleton, Oregon to Celilo Village along the Columbia Gorge on October 27th. They gathered for an intimate powwow with other local Native tribes that will go until Sunday.
Logan Quamets participated in the “Golden Age” dance for men with 7 other men from different local tribes. This genre of dance is for men 60 years old or older.
This is a traditional headdress worn by a fellow member of the Umatilla Tribe. He has different headdresses that have different components. This headdress is called the “Roach Headdress.” It has porcupine hair, dyed feathers, and beads.
