The images displayed above represent some of the common or average homes you might see in Palo Alto and Menlo Park; but the truth is there’s nothing really average about Palo Alto or Menlo Park at all. These towns are amongst some of the most expensive towns in the United States to live in, they are home to people like Mark Zuckerberg, Steve Jobs, Elon Musk and more. The communities are extremely competitive as they are located just minutes away from some of the most influential technology industries/companies. Although these towns are in the heart and center of Silicon Valley one doesn’t necessarily need to live in these towns in order to have access and exposure to all that Silicon Valley has to offer. These homes represent an idealistic lifestyle that is unattainable for most people.

Critique:

Often times society tends to display and showcase ideal homes through media sources like TV shows, movies, and advertisements in magazines or TV commercials. The constant advertisement of the ideal home and living space causes the audience (American people) to have this false representation and idea of what an actually realistically and affordable home is and looks like in certain areas. Because the media and hollywood tend to sugar coat and bend reality there’s a lack of knowledge amongst the viewers and audience aka the American people.
