Contagion to Magic Mike is the artistic leap of the century in my opinion. The commentary at 6 minutes about the color washing in Oceans series, very interesting.
around 17 minutes in I liked how you talked about the color grade, I’ve seen this movie a couple years ago and I remember noticing the hue of the film and how it made the entire thing feel more visceral and hopeless. Specifically how the color grade made the everyone’s skin look sickly by default.
I really liked Lucas analysis of his scene. Very intriguing thoughts about the camera acting as the disease because of its placement outside a car window where the disease can’t get in and infect the person in the car. And how the sound amplitudes itself when things are being touched acting as this ominous threat.
Great job on your podcasting this time. After listening to your episode, I am pretty interesting to the film. Also, this director’s film is pretty cool. A film about virus will draw me to our life today.
Contagion is one of my favorite thriller films. I think the color grading was one of the most important aspects of mise en scene in the film and also how various components were heavily influenced by the coloring of certain shots.
