I really enjoyed the last podcast so I was excited to listen to this one! I enjoyed going deeper into your guys’ analysis of the film and gaining more information about the behind the scenes and technical aspects of the aesthetics. Learning about the variety of styles of Stanley Kubrick’s films was interesting and I enjoyed listening to you guys talk a little bit about horror films! This episode was a great addition to the last one.
Great job on explaining the deeper meanings of “Dr. Strangelove”. I’ve heard about it before but haven’t watched it, but now knowing it is directed by Stanley Kubrick and understanding some of his intentions with the film I think I would get a lot out of viewing it. It’s also funny to hear about how cynical and grumpy Kubrick was. Seems like he is a true visionary.
One of my favorite movies and I think your discussions about Kubrick’s intentions and how he goes about displaying them through aesthetic means was deeply interesting for me to hear. Definitely going to watch again and do some more of my own research. Great job.
I found it interesting how your analysis of Dr. Strangelove relates to the broken society of Germany after World War 2 and how his wheelchair resembles the “crippled” economy and government during that time. I am a big fan of Stanley Kubrick’s work but I have yet to see this movie. After hearing your analysis of the characters and how they relate to the society of post war, I feel the need to watch it now! Great podcast and I love the excitement that everyone brought!
I loved your discussion of “Dr. Strangelove”. I loved your discussion of the different intentions behind Kubrick’s aesthetic decisions within the film. He has a very unique style and it was awesome to hear your take on it.
