The Forest Team 2008
Team members: Lisha Curtner, Ali Abbors (graduate facilitator), Tristan Jones, Colin Curwen-McAdams, Sarah Cuddy, Brendan Galipeau
About us
In partnership with the H.J. Andrews Experimental Forest, the Forest Team strives to educate students and community members about the importance of forest ecosystem interactions in relation to global climate change. During the spring of 2008, the team visited elementary, and high school classrooms throughout the Eugene area in order to cultivate greater appreciation for our dynamic forest ecosystems. The Forest Team has developed a suite of lesson plans focused on carbon sequestration, fire, climate change, and the management techniques that affect these processes in our forests; the lessons incorporate H.J. Andrews researchers’ most current understandings of the relationship between forests, fire, and carbon sequestration. The team’s educational unit promotes awareness of the relationship between forests and climate change and encourages students to take action to protect our forest resources.

We would also like to extend our gratitude to Melanie Marine for all her hard work in the winter term of 2008. Thank you, Mel!
