Human Rights

What are human rights?

Regardless of gender, race, nationality, ethnicity, language, religion, or any other distinction, everyone is entitled to the same fundamental legal rights. The term “human rights” refers to a broad range of rights, including freedom from slavery and torture, the right to life and liberty, the right to free speech, the right to a job and an education, among many others. Everyone is entitled to these rights, without exception. Human Rights in Romania:

Credible reports of instances of cruel, inhumane, or degrading treatment or punishment by the government, widespread serious official corruption, a lack of investigation and accountability for gender-based violence, including but not limited to domestic and intimate partner violence and sexual violence, abuses against institutionalized people with disabilities, and widespread serious official corruption were among the significant human rights issues.

Corruption in Romania:

Bribery was widespread in government, particularly in the health care industry. The execution of sanctions by individual executive agencies was sluggish, and the agencies’ own inspection bodies were frequently inactive. The National Anticorruption Directorate opened several inquiries into procurement fraud involving the purchase of ventilators and personal protective equipment during the COVID-19 pandemic.
