False Solomon’s seal (Maianthemum racemosum) is a perennial flower native to North America, and is common in every state and Canadian province except Hawaii and Nunavut. Reaching 50 to 90 centimeters tall, it has oblong/lancolate, alternately arranged leaves 3-6 centimeters wide and 7-15 centimeters long. Flowers are arranged at the end of the stem in groups and branching off, with six white pedals on the outside that bloom in spring. It bears red Holly-like berries,
and the root and plant are known to be a strong laxative.
