1. How do you define “spirituality”?

–       Spirituality is simply a process of personal transformation. Using personal senses, people see or feel something and get inspired by it. By experiencing the senses, people express their aesthetic reactions and interpret the senses in forms of several works. Spirituality obviously enables people to believe the senses and to see a certain thing deeply. Once people get inspired and have a strong spirituality, it would not be easy to change their views.

1. Does spirituality differ from religion?

–       I think the spirituality is much broader than religion. Spirituality seems to be similar with religion in terms of belief or inspiration. People who have religion see the world differently. However, people who do not have religion also have an ability to get spirituality. As stated above, the spirituality is a process of personal transforming. Religious people believe a spirit that supports them during their lives. In case of their future misfortune, they follow the norms that their religion teaches. By the influence of it, people have different perception on the lives. Non-religious people also use their sense to experience creatures in the world and receive special feelings. They create their own way of spirituality and interpret it. Unlike to religion, spirituality would be a sense-experiencing and thus inspiration.

1. How do you define “creativity”?

–       The creativity is a process of expressing one’s inspiration using an art-from. The Grey explained that the process of creativity includes formulation, saturation, incubation, inspiration, translation and integration. A creator discovers a subject that attracts his/her attention and interprets it in his own way. After that, he keeps the subject in his mind and finds a unique idea of expressing the subject. Then, expresses the idea in outer forms and shares with public. Creativity definitely impacts on public to get inspired.

1. What is the source of creativity?

–       The source of creativity would be tangible or intangible thing that inspire creators. For tangible thing, any objects around us would be a good source. For some people, one certain object would not be valuable but others may find an aesthetic reaction on it. Thus, natural objects such as mountain, river, goods and etc. can be a source of creativity. For intangible, the words people speak or dreaming would be a common source for creativity. While people are talking each other, some creators catch key words and find the way to create a good work. Moreover, dreaming would inspire some people to make creative works. The dream originated by imagination creates abnormal thoughts for people to interpret some works. It expands people’s limited scope of thinking which might be the basic process of making creativity.

Reflection

This topic was really abstract to stand in one side. The topic is abnormal subject that I have never thought of before. However, through doing the assignment, I could deeply think of what is the definition of the spirituality and how artists use their spirituality to create an art. By discussing with classmates about this topic, I could reach to my own definition of spirituality. I think the spirituality is an intangible assets to help us get inspired by something thus leads us to have a creative notion. Simply, the process of touching someone’s heart would be a spirituality. Everyone of us has the spirituality but whether or not the one who is sensitive and view the world differently, is often affected by spirituality. An artist is the one who use the spirituality to create an art. As we all know, artists get inspired by some objects or views and keep them in mind. The inspiration actually is growing and artists express their inspiration as forms of art. In class reading, Grey states that “a flash of one’s own unique solution to the problem”. As he said, the inspiration is an unique solution for artists to solve an abstract objects. By using them, artists involve in process of making arts and wait for evaluation from public whether their solutions is properly expressed or not. Through leveraging their senses, artists transforms their thoughts to art forms. In the point, I think the inspiration is a sub-folder of spirituality. I also have numerous spirituality. When I lay down on my bed, I try to look back what I did today and what impressions on me in order to keep them in my memory. Usually, a lot of happenings are ignored but some special moments are suddenly come up. I think the reason why I remember the moments is that I received inspiration unconsciously during a day-life. The inspirations are stored in my spirit and come up whenever I have similar experience so that I can better perform than the first time. The inspiration absolutely leads me to behave better than before. That is my solution on unexpected works that I face with.

I took this picture before I came to US. I stayed in a temple for month because I wanted to be alone. Usually, a temple is situated far away from cities. It was very quiet and calm. During the period, I also prayed for my future and used to listen good words which evoke me to think of my life again. However, I think that was not a kind of spirituality. I believe that there is something powerful existed in the religion that I cannot define. Most people believe that a spirituality unconsciously lead people in a good way when they have a religion. I agree with that. I had a lot of thoughts about life and receives numerous creative thinking, while I was staying there. In simple word, I put down any greed and redefine what a happiness is. These thoughts might be derived by spirituality but thinking back to the moment, I believe that the thoughts were created because I could have a time to organize my life. Internal conflicts between evil and angel were presented during the time. It would be hardly saying that because of religion. Most people in the world who do not have any religion also have possibility to look back themselves and get inspiration. It is not because of religion. Therefore, I think the spirituality is more broader and the religion is a tool to get a spirituality.

Future

From the assignment, I learned valuable term, spirituality. Even though I learned the definition of spirituality, it would be still difficult to define the term. However, human is a creature to have a spirituality and express it through behaviors or forms of work. In the future, based on the information, I will try to get more spirituality by focusing on every moment on my life. I believe it will hugely help me lead my life better.
