Anna Magnani

So with this being my first encounter with the actress Anna Magnani, I will say that she provided me a well thought out way of showing what was going on throughout her time period as a film star. Not only because she played her role in the movie Mamma Roma very passionately she was able to show how the lifestyle was post World War Two. She was able to show that very much caring and compassionate emotion that you rarely see during this time period of film stars. She was able to provide a very unique experience that I was able to fill throughout her performance that I haven’t felt from seeing from a film that we’ve seen so far this term. but that is because she prides herself on her individuality from other actors and actresses during this time. She believed that as you perform and you do more movies and other film ventures that you should be able to connect to your audience in a way that it feels almost unique to them. This is why she never really cared about her appearance in films in interviews because she always wanted to be authentic. she never wanted to be seen as somebody that we would compare to Marilyn Monroe because she felt that if there’s a more authentic personal connection to the audience then you’ve done your job as an actor or an actress. but with her being a film star during the post war era she became the face of neorealism and with that she had to be more precautious about what she stood for and what she wanted to display during this time. and after reading the  excerpt about her it further proved that she only wanted to be more authentic and that she wanted to have a voice in the film industry. in my eyes I feel that she accomplished her goals because she was so authentic in that she was able to leave her mark on the film world, and by doing that she became more known internationally and seen across the world which led her to receive the accolades that she did in the film industry .
