Our Mission
Our mission is to provide 3rd-grade students with the resources to increase their internet safety. Many children are allowed unlimited internet access, so teaching them earlier on about how to be safe on the internet is crucial. Additionally, as future educators, it is important for us to be knowledgeable about internet safety as we are responsible for protecting our students’ data. This resource is primarily for teachers who teach lower elementary grades (K-3) and want to broaden their own knowledge about internet safety. Internet safety is needed because we live in a digital world. We do homework online, talk to friends online, use online navigation systems, and so much more. Our lives are intertwined online, so it is crucial that we are safe. We will be teaching cybersecurity and internet safety while relating it to environmental science, a topic that has become increasingly pertinent in this world. We will use scratch in order to make it a fun way for young students to get engaged with this topic. We hope that these lessons will be something that students can carry with them for the rest of their lives and be able to use these strategies throughout their lives. Our lessons align with the Arizona 3rd grade standard 3.NI.C.1: Identify real-world cybersecurity problems and how personal information can be protected. Link: Arizona 3rd Grade CS Standards
