Personal Observations:

Female#1: I see a young lady studying hard at a desk. She is constantly looking back and forth between her laptop and notebook and seems a bit frustrated with whatever she is doing. She is wearing workout gear and has her headphones in as she chews on her pencil. In my opinion, I think that potential values and beliefs are demonstrated by the way that she dresses in the sense that she might value personal health because she has on workout gear, and therefore probably works out often to try and maintain a healthy lifestyle. However, this is just an assumption based on what she wears. Another assumption that I have made based on what she is wearing is that she is a young lady that is up-to-date with the American culture of wearing designer items such as Nike running shoes and Nike women’s leggings. I think that I make these assumptions because I hold my own personal health to a higher value and believe that wearing workout clothes usually has some correlation to working out and being healthy.

 

Male#1: I see a young man tutoring a college student. He is hovering over the student giving advice as they approach the practice problems that continuously pop up on the computer screen. He is wearing a light blue button-up collard shirt and tan pants and has an old brown leather suitcase next to his side. In my opinion, I believe that this man might value work ethic and professionalism based on the way that he dresses and postures himself. Even though he is not wearing a suit or tie, he still looks clean with a more popular new age look that is still formal and remains professional in his stance as he continues to help the student. Some of the assumptions that I have made based on his personal appearance are that he is decently young considering that he is dressed in a very newer fashioned look as opposed to an older business professional. These assumptions tell me that I personally think that dressing in a well-mannered way or professional way can give others the notion that you hold some form of importance.

 

Female#2: I see another young lady quietly reading a book in the corner of the room. She seems to be very relaxed and focused heavily on whatever it is that she is reading. She is wearing a form of clothing that looks like a scarf that covers her whole head and neck area. In my opinion, I think that values and beliefs are demonstrated in her dress and body adornment in a sort of religious and cultural way because most women that are from the United States do not typically wear these sort of head coverings as do some women from other cultures around the world. Some of the assumptions that I might make based on the young lady’s dress attire is that she could potentially be Muslim considering the fact that a head covering, known as a hijab, is commonly worn in public by Muslim women. With that being said I might also believe that she comes from a strong cultural background where religious and cultural practices are regarded as highly important. These assumptions have made me realize that I value uniqueness and individuality because everyone has the opportunity to believe what they want and provide their own perspective.
