MSCI/GS RSVP

You have found the Multidisciplinary Science commencement registration site.

Multidisciplinary Science VS General Science

If you are listed as a General Science major you can remain GS if you like, but you can also change to Multidisciplinary Science by filling out and submitting the change of major form at declare major form; please do this today, you cannot change your major after your degree is awarded. Your major (Multidisciplinary Science, or General Science) will be reflected on your official transcript.

Degree Application VS Commencement Ceremony Registration

Please note that registering for the commencement ceremony is NOT the same thing as applying for your degree.

  • Apply for your degree through Duckweb, please apply for the term in which you will be completely done (if you plan to finish classes during summer term, you should apply for your degree for the end of summer term, even if you plan to walk this spring).
  • Fill out the form below to register for the MSCI Program Commencement Ceremony (June 16th, 1:00PM) by MAY 3 to guarantee you will be listed on the program
  • Register for the UO Main Ceremony (June 17th) at the university commencement site,
  • Visit the DuckStore for commencement packages (regalia, gold tassels, announcements, etc)

Make sure you are signed up for all the credentials you earned

Because MSCI is so interdisciplinary, many MSCI majors earn minors in their emphasis areas (while you cannot double dip upper division classes for the MSCI major and another MAJOR, you can double dip for a MINOR). Every year during degree clearance time we find students who have earned a minor but who have not signed up for it; at that point it’s too late to add it. Before you apply for your degree, please take a moment to make sure that you are signed up for all the minors that you earned. Here are some common examples with their basic requirements:

Biology minor: BI 211, 212, 213 or 214 + 16 upper division BI credits. Add BI minor here.
Chemistry minor: Gen chem sequence + 15 upper division CH credits (all courses must be taken for a letter grade). Add CH minor here.
Anthropology minor: 24 ANTH credits: 4 cr 100-200 level, 12 cr 300-400 level, 4 cr 400 level, 4 cr at any level (20 cr must be taken for a letter grade). Add ANTH minor here.

If you would like help determining if you earned a minor please consult your degree guide using the “what if” degree guide feature and/or contact Tykeson advising.

RSVP

It will take about 5-10 min to complete this form, you will be asked to go to this site for one of the questions, to record your name with proper pronunciation. We are providing the link here so you don’t have to copy and past it when you get to that question.

MSCI Commencement Registration 2024

(required) I understand that if I am declared a General Science major, my official transcript will reflect this, and if I want my transcript to indicate that I am a Multidisciplinary Science major, I need to fill out and submit a change-of-major form.

(required) Did you, or are you planning to, complete an honors thesis?

(required) Have you, or do you plan to, apply to any graduate/ professional/ postbaccalaureate programs?

Have you been accepted?

(required) Do you plan on participating in the Spring MSCI Commencement Ceremony?

(required) Will either you, or any of your guests, require accessibility accommodations?

(required) Can we release your name to other Multidisciplinary Science and General Science students? Often, students in the major are not aware that their friends will also be participating in the commencement ceremony. This year I would like to send a list of participating students to MSCI/GS canvas mailing list so everyone knows who plans to attend.

(required) The following information is for GradImages (the photographer service). They would like this info so they can send you (and whoever else you specify) proofs of the professional pictures they take, and info about how to order. GradImmages says "There is no obligation to purchase photos and your personal information will not be sold. We may send you a text message when your pictures are available for viewing online." I recommend that you at least provide your email, even if you don't think you will want the pictures, it doesn't hurt to see them... and a family member might be bummed out if they find out you cannot get access.
