Next Steps

Congratulations on completing the COE Equity Challenge!

I hope you found some value in participating in this Equity Challenge. Regardless of how you interacted with the material — whether you found content that resonated intensely, gently, or not at all, you have been exercising important muscles over these past days. The “muscle” of seeking information on topics that you think you can grow in. And the “muscle” of engaging in the challenging discourse with our community around these topics. I’m guessing you both interacted with the posted material and also followed links, looked up terms, and even looked for more current content on topics that stirred something in you. I am grateful to all those who participated and to those who reached out with reflections, thoughts, and even resources! I’d be glad to do this challenge again, with even more content curated from among our own community and with advanced discourse that allows us to drill deeper into those important spaces where transformation happens.  Dianna COE Assistant Dean, Administration, Equity, Inclusion

We are thankful you took this journey with us. More than 50 participants shared their interest with me and I learned of others who are engaging privately. You took the time to explore various topics from race and identity, to how to address privilege and be an ally to others. Please make sure you have completed the exit survey as we continue to look for ways to continuously expand our communities’ understanding of equity.

All of the information from each day of our challenge will remain on our website and be available to the COE community.

Significant gratitude to our faculty in EDST who provided the valuable content for days 16 – 18 and who assisted me in the review of content for other Days in the challenge.

Significant portions of our COE challenge were taken from the Eddie Moore Juniors 21-Day Equity Challenge and from the United Way of Iowa website, and I continue to remain immensely grateful to those agencies and communities for what we were able to bring to our community.
