Filing Complaints, Concerns, and Reports in the College of Education
While we sincerely hope that as a member of the College of Education Community, your experience is wholly positive, we realize that there are sometimes complicated situations that would benefit from you reaching out to an expert or consultant to share your concern.
The University of Oregon has a variety of pathways for submitting concerns that vary according to the nature of your concern. We have consolidated a number of them here, and urge you to skim through these resources now, in the event that you need to make swift use of them while navigating a personal concern or a concern on behalf of someone else in need.
- Safety and Emergencies: If you are in immediate danger call 9-1-1 from the nearest phone.
- 24 Hour Hotline for information and support: 541-346-SAFE. Call anytime to speak with a counselor who can also connect you with other confidential resources.
- Mental Health, Self-Care: If you have concerns about your mental health, or that of another individual, the university Counseling Services Center offers a variety of services for extended needs https://counseling.uoregon.edu/.
- Harassment concerns and other civil rights complaints: The Office of Investigations and Civil Rights Compliance https://investigations.uoregon.edu/ addresses and investigates concerns and complaints that a campus community member has violated the University’s Prohibited Discrimination and Retaliation Policy. If you or someone you know (student, faculty, or staff) has experienced discrimination based on sex, gender, or sexual orientation, or sexual harassment, sexual or dating violence or stalking, or discrimination based on race, color, national origin, religion, age, disability, or other protected class or protected activity, you are encouraged to file a report with the OICRC, https://investigations.uoregon.edu/how-report. Filing a report does not obligate you to participate in a University process, but OICRC will reach out to you regarding support resources. The College of Education encourages you to submit concerns to the campus office that is most suited to your need/concern. If you would like to consult with someone inside of the College of Education before submitting your concern through any of these mechanisms, you are welcome (though not obligated) to contact any of the following individuals at your own discretion to discuss the nature of your concern and the ideal approach to proceeding.
