Photo Package

This photo package describes the work life of Mariana Dominguez, an international student from Mexico. She currently works at the Mills International Center as a Resource Consultant, Program Manager, and Social Media Specialist.

Mariana Dominguez sits at the front desk of the Mills International Center, tallying each visitor that comes in, which helps keep track of how many people come in every day.

Mariana adds up the tallies for visitors who came in the past hour. The tally sheet is an important factor when the Mills petitions for funding because a high number in tallies means the Mills is an important and highly utilized space that deserves appropriate financing.

Mariana re-shelves a Middle Eastern fiction book and a Thai cuisine cookbook that someone checked in back into the resource library. The Mills’ wide range of resources, from travel books to fiction narratives to cookbooks, is highly utilized among visitors.

These are some African music CDs in the Mills International Center’s CD collection. They offer a variety of CDs with music from around the world that visitors can listen to in order to learn and experience new sounds and songs in different languages.

Mariana talks with a visitor about Language Circles as he slaps on a sticker that says “Discover” in Vietnamese. The language stickers are connected to the Language Circles the Mills offers every Monday from 4-7 p.m., which allow anyone with any language skill to come and learn a new language and interact with people in a multicultural space.
