Install an SSH/SFTP App

shell.uoregon.edu

The name of our SSH and SFTP server is shell.uoregon.edu.

Remember this when connecting to the server.

Windows

Install puTTY and winSCP.

PuTTY is a terminal program and SSH client for Windows. The 32-bit download of is sufficient for any version of Windows.

puTTY does not include an integrated file transfer client. To transfer files, you will need winSCP, a file transfer program.

MacOS

Install Fugu.

MacOS includes a built-in terminal app, but you will need a file transfer app. Fugu is a file transfer app from the University of Michigan.

Be careful to download only Fugu-1.2.1pre1.zip. Do not download the latest version, Fugu-1.2.0-English.dmg.

Once you have the .zip file, click on it to extract the app, and then drag the Fugu app into your Applications folder.

Important: Be sure to put the app in your Applications folder.
