From the 111 syllabus:
The CIS department recommends students complete CIS 110 before taking CIS 111.
Reasons:
- CIS 110 covers HTML and CSS
- JavaScript programming requires a working knowledge of HTML and CSS
- CIS 111 does not cover HTML and CSS
Required: Learn HTML/CSS in Two Steps
If you did not previously take 110, you must complete these two steps.
- Learn How the Internet Works in 5 Minutes (YouTube).
- Learn the basics of HTML & CSS (Thimble). Thimble is Mozilla’s online code editor that makes it easy to create and publish your own web pages while learning HTML, CSS & JavaScript. Remix one of the projects, as follows:
Examples
A. Type “love” into the search box, and then remix the “Three Things I Love” project.
B. Type “meme” into the search box, and then remix the “make-a-meme” project.
C. Or, select any other project to remix– it’s up to you.
