Alternate Code Editors

Sublime Text is available for free download to students, but is too expensive to install in the Klamath computer labs.

Therefore, the free open-source text editors Atom (https://atom.io/) and Brackets (http://brackets.io/) are installed in the Klamath labs, and other UO computing labs.

Atom and Brackets are both Sublime Text inspired, and have a very similar user interface.

You are welcome to use Sublime Text or Atom or Brackets in CIS 111.

  • To configure Atom, install the following packages: Emmet, Atom-beautify, sftp-deployment, JSHint (not JSLint)
  • To configure Brackets, install the following extensions: Emmet, Beautify, SFtpUpload, JSHint
  • Read How to Configure Sublime Text
