Artifact: Life values assessment

For this artifact we were asked to use this website and put in order from highest ranking to lowest ranking, what are values were based on the words that they gave to you. We were to do this in order to understand the connection between our psychological and philosophical endeavors and how they came together with our different values. This assessment was to show that every person places different values in their life as being more or less important, but I think nonetheless all of these values are important.

I chose this artifact because I think it was a really important assignment to do not only for our personal benefit, but also for the benefit of understand the many different aspects of art. As abstract as art is, there are also many different parts that influence how to make it, what inspires us to make it, what it is that we enjoy about art and why we choose to express through different forms of art.

Understanding our own values as well as others gives us a look into why we are the way that we are. In terms of going through the rest of the class, we were able to see how every persons values shined through in their responses and with their choice in what to talk about.

In the future I think it would be smart for me to keep in mind peoples values when it comes to hearing them express their thoughts. We are all entitled to opinions, and all given the chance to express them giving that we live in the place that we do. So instead of becoming offended, or confused or whatever the reaction may be to what someone has to say, it would be best to think “What are their values? What have they been taught? What kind of place did they grow up in? What kind of experiences have they had?” etc.

One of the human values that I believe wasn’t on here, but deserves talking about is spirituality. I think that spirituality is something that is learned, and so inherently it is a value that some people place at the top of their list. That being said, this leads me into my next artifact which you can find through the portfolio tab at the top or here.
