Collaboration

This was one of the first times I had the opportunity to work in a group for the entire ten weeks of a class. Since I was relatively new to working in groups there were some strengths and weaknesses I demonstrated when working on the proposal process. As the year went along I used the mid-term evaluations and the final evaluations to understand my strengths and weaknesses when working with others.

When looking at my strengths the reflection of team-related behaviors on the mid-term evaluation allowed me to see some strengths I possessed when working with a team. Like the picture below indicates I did a good job at making sure everyone was on the same page and made an effort to continue to improve ideas. This shows my relationship management of emotional intelligence and how I could influence the group to continuously improve ideas.

On the other hand, this same evaluation did allow me to recognize that I tend to get off topic during group meetings. This shows how I need to improve on my initiative under the component of self-management for Emotional Intelligence. By showing more initiative to stay on task I feel like our meetings as a group could of improved because those side conversations took away from the task. Saying this though my ability to communicate freely with my group members demonstrates my ability to grow and establish relationships with them.

Moving forward I need to reflect back on my blog post of group feedback, and look at ways I can improve as a member as a group. By doing this, it will allow me to excel at a even higher level in the next group project I have. I enjoy working as part of a team because collaboration is part of every day life and in order to be successful you need to know how to effectively communicate with people.
