VR you can try at home!
This is the final result of my research in perspective art, video games and art, and the science of VR. The main point its trying to make is combing the idea of perspective, which is creative the illusion of a three dimensional space on a 2D plane, and implement a paper version of VR using 3D models I’ve created for off hand and for the game Team Fortress 2. The medium I used is that of the “Magic Eye Illusions” which use stereoscopic imagery much like the VR headsets do for video games.
In order to effectively use the illusions here is a description from the magic eye company themselves, and in this case try your best with your screen:
“Hold the center of the printed image right up to your nose. It should be blurry. Focus as though you are lookingthrough the image into the distance. Very slowly move the image away from your face until the two squares above the image turn into three squares. If you see four squares, move the image farther away from your face until you see three squares. If you see one or two squares, start over! When you clearly see three squares, hold the page still, and the hidden image will magically appear. Once you perceive the hidden image and depth, you can look around the entire 3D image. The longer you look, the clearer the illusion becomes.”
