Journal #23

I learned a few thing from my project’s final display, one of which I learned that people have heard of the virtual reality in recent news from articles like TIME or other popular news sources. It goes to show that we a re more connected with technology now than ever before.

I feel that my strengthsĀ of my project lie within how heavily connected the subject matter is, with video games and virtual reality being nearly one in the same along with the idea of perspective and realism having a part in how we perceive reality and false realities like video games.

The weakest part of my project would probably be how difficult to explain the exact science behind VR and why it’s such a big deal in today’s world, along with how the art in video games has the potential to actual become art itself or reflect on points in our history which can influence the future.

The opportunities I could build off this project if I continue it is to further research new emerging VR technologies like Valve’s own take at a VR headset which was unveiled during my research for VR on this project. I could also possibly build on the idea of creating more elaborate models to be shown through the artistic medium of my creative display and make them even better than they are now.

The only foreseeable risk to messing up the best possible outcome for the project is if VR technology tanks again like it did 2 decades ago and is branded as a gimmick rather than a new and useful piece of technology.
