Annual Graduate Student Research Journal
The CCACP Graduate Student Research Journal profiles the research work of University of Oregon Arts and Administration Program (AAD) graduate students. This journal provides a snapshot of the terminal theses, capstones, and projects completed during each academic year, and seeks to draw the attention of a larger audience to the excellent scholarship completed in AAD. There are a wide variety of topics including museum studies, performing arts, community arts, media studies, cultural theory, cultural policy, and more. The geopolitical scope extends beyond Eugene and Oregon, from local communities to state, regional, national, and international cultural issues.
In the Arts and Administration Program, Master’s degree candidates select one of five concentration areas: Community Arts Management, Media Management, Museum Studies, Performing Arts Management, or Arts in Healthcare Management. Upon successful completion of two specialized courses on research methods and design and the approval of a detailed research proposal, students are assigned a research advisor from the AAD faculty. Subsequent completion of the full research project and required final presentation typically takes at least two academic terms.
The Graduate Student Research Journal was launched during the 2009-10 academic year. This journal project was inspired by the research journal that has been published by the Associated Students for Historic Preservation (AHSP) on an annual basis since 1989. The ASHP Journal provides a forum in which to convey views and information, as well as promote spirited debate within the field of historic preservation at the local, state, and national levels. ASHP’s purpose is to advance knowledge and understanding of historic preservation policy and practice among students, professionals, and educators throughout the term.
