Artifact

I approached this assignment slightly differently than intended because I am still unsure of what site I would like to use and what type of building I will be designing. I used the assignment as an exploration; a way to answer questions that I still had about the project and the interaction between “green and gray”. I began knowing that I wanted to create a sort of woven mesh emphasizing how the gray and green come together and how they intertwine. Maybe there are places where there is more green and places where there is more gray. The first part of the “artifact” captured the way in which I often see green and gray currently interacting, reaching away from the built environment, but not completely interacting with it. I see this as the way streets are lined with trees and parks exist scattered around the city. My goal is to create a building where there is not as clear of a boundary between the two.  I folded the “mesh” around the building to explore the way in which the green and gray form space together, yet the buildings can still be seen from within. Some spaces have more gray, some have more green, but together they create a new realm in which both play and equal and important part. I see aspects of the architecture reaching beyond the building, maybe the structure, and becoming engulfed in green.
