From this assignment I learned that my site is an urban ecosystem with the majority of the area being impervious. Portland with an average rainfall of 37 inches, green roofs and street trees will help mitigate some of the storm water.

The Urban canopy of Portland consists of 24,118 acres of land in Portland, accounting for 26% of the land. Within this area, 10,763 acres are parks about 11% of the city area.

Oregon has many native species with 209 Bird species and copious amounts of plants. The plants that have survived with urbanization are ones with extensive root systems or interesting pollination mechanisms, such as the bunch berry. Many of these plants do well in semi shade and moist soil.
