Due to the horizontal nature of my site and a shift in scale from east to west, my building form needs to express the stretch from single-story retail to the high density of the W Hotel. In this north elevation, I was inspired by bio-luminescence  to incorporate a dynamic media facade that would contribute to the illustrious front of Hollywood blvd. In terms of context and day lighting, the north west corner was ideal for the grand lobby of the motion picture museum. As I worked through form, this transition from retail space to monumental civic space remained a constant. Through sketching, I experimented with a more fluid transition that is connected by the trace media facades (darker ribbon). It was only befitting that the form resembles the squid as that was where I began with my thesis research. The other element that I will document next is the landscape element that will bridge around and through the building to connect to the southern park.
