For last pin-up on Friday I developed urban layout for area between Ross Island Bridge and Marquam Bridge. I felt, it is extremely important to understand the context of the site and then start with site design. As per the reviewers, site analysis and urban ideas are really strong and realistic. I also, worked on the site section cutting through river edge, which will help me to design interactive activities along the riverfront.

Though I am heading in the right direction on urban level, my site design schemes are not yet enough developed. To develop site I am working on 2 basic schemes-

1) “Urban Wall”- In this scheme lateral multistory building along the Ross Island Bridge will visually separate urban park. Community and educational activities will take place in smaller built structures. This scheme will allow smaller built footprint and bigger outdoor space.

2) “Infill and voids”- This scheme will create interwoven pattern of multiple low-height buildings and courtyard voids. This scheme might cover larger footprint. As reviewers suggested, this scheme might not work well for creating outdoor spaces.

Also, reviewers suggested narrowing down program¬ and focusing only ecology of riparian edge. I think, soon I will be finalizing my site program and site design based on my urban analysis. To develop site, I will be also looking at the solar shading analysis and wind analysis with help of Revit Vasari. I am also planning to visit ecology research institutes to investigate their day to day activities and to see how to involve school kids in environment education.
