Reflecting on the Last Assignment

When I look back at the assignment, I am happy with what I created, but I am not sure if the forms will be completely appropriate for my project.  I am pleased with the overall concept, but I maybe took the idea of bio-mimetic design to specifically using a single organism.  I chose an organism within the riparian eco-tone, the Chinook salmon.

Moving forward I realized that using a single organism for inspiration for my design probably isn’t going to work.  By just using the concept of density and diversity found within the riparian ecosystem, and using symbiotic relationships in a broader fashion, I will be able to use the forms that I see appropriate, but in a manner that might not have been considered before.  It becomes less about form, and more about adjacencies and relationships.

I feel that utilizing a broader interpretation of bio-mimetic design will allow for the inspiration to cover many more aspects of the design covering numerous scales.
