The activities that I have completed today include a few values from the above list. For example, simple things like making breakfast on Saturday morning with my boyfriend are considered a family value because I think of him as my family. This value is very important to me, which is why it’s on the top of my list. Also, I have been spending my time in places I wanted to be today, which makes me happy and I enjoyed it. These things relate to another two values on my list: location and enjoyment. Specifically, I went to my birthday party where I saw a lot of my friends, some close friends and some other friends, but still people that I respect and people that respect me. The friendship value is very important to me because I think that respect is a very powerful way of communicating with people.

Today’s activities relate to my top five values in some ways. The family value is the most important and because my family lives in another country so I do not see them very often, so I see my boyfriend as my family. Moreover, my family taught me that family is the most important value and I believe in that value a lot. Even though they live so far away from me, every time I call them I get their support; they believe in me, which gives me power to accomplish things that I want to accomplish in my life. I definitely want to get my degree and I will be done with school after this term. I am doing my homework and going to school to accomplish my goals with getting a degree and finding a job that will make me feel happy and will give me the room to grow for future successes. I consider my second value on my list independent more general than just specific to a certain activity that I did today. I came to the United States when I was nineteen years old (almost 9 years ago) and since the day I arrived here, I had to become independent since I do not have any family in the States. I had to gain friends and every time I had to just count on myself ,so independence is something I value. I did not inherit my independence, it was something that I  had to learn to help me survive.

The values that I do not think are that important anymore is wealth, for example. Of course I would like to have enough money for my basic needs, however, I know that money will not give you complete happiness. While growing up my parents never had money so I always thought that I wanted to have money, but that changed. I came to the point in my life where I discovered that money does not bring you happiness. So that is the value that definitely changed for me.

The goals that I still have are to complete school, get a full time job, find a place where I want to move and be happy in that place. I want to have a family. I do not think that anything is standing in my way to accomplish those goals. Of course it cannot happen all at once and it may take some time for me to accomplish everything but my patience and hard work will happen sooner or later.
