In the Moment

Former baseball player at Vernon College, Matthew Finley had his career cut short due to injuries, but still finds time to practice the sport he loves. You may be able to take the player out of the game, but you can’t take the game out of the player.

Matthew Finley, 20, gets ready for a baseball workout at a nearby high school while wearing his lucky socks. “I would wear these for every game back home in Texas. It was just something I became accustomed to.”

 


Matthew Finley, 20, reminisces about his past of playing collegiate baseball. Matthew played baseball for Vernon College in Texas, but unfortunately had his time cut short due to reoccurring injuries.

 

Matthew Finley, 20, joins his friend David Lehman, 19, in warming up and throwing the baseball. With injuries no longer allowing Matthew to play baseball at a collegiate level, his love for the game is something that will never be taken away from him.

 

The relationship between a baseball player and their glove represents a long-lasting bond that cannot be broken.
