Who are we?
The Asklepiads Pre-Med Society is a student-run organization at the University of Oregon open to all students interested in the medical field. Asklepiads also provides pre-med students with the opportunity to meet one another and share their fears, experiences, and aspirations about pursuing a career in the medical field. This website was made to help you learn more about what Asklepiads has to offer. By clicking on the different tabs, you can contact our board members, find dates and events to pencil into your planner, learn about opportunities in the community to help you get more involved, find contact information of our guest speakers, and health training events such as suture clinics, etc. General meetings are held on Wednesdays of odd weeks, at 7:00-8:00 PM on Zoom. At the meetings you will hear more from current physicians in different fields!

History
The modern Asklepiads Pre-Med Society is a student-run organization at the University of Oregon open to all students interested in the medical field. The UO honorary society was founded by pre-medical students in 1929, and they selected the name themselves, and Professor Huestis as their first advisor. The student council granted a charter to the organization in 1930. Women were not allowed to be members until 1970 when the first female members were initiated. In October 1935, the group made arrangements with a local doctor (Dr. Hurley) to observe an operation each week. An organized preceptorship program was started in 1973.
