Norberg-Schultz

Norberg-Schultz is clearly interested in how architecture is a byproduct of human interaction. What qualities does a space have and how are those phenomena shaped by human interaction. I believe that Norberg-Schultz is drawn back to Heidegger’s ideas because they prove as an excellent starting point for his analysis of “place.” He is interested in the essence of architecture instead of the inert product that are walls and roofs. I believe that the phenomena that Norberg-Schultz was interest in relate to Heidegger’s ideas of what ‘dwelling’ means and what creates a sense of place. As Heidegger present broad ideas of what ‘dwell’ means, Norberg-Schultz present a further explanation of how phenomena affect the way humans dwell.
