Norberg-Shultz
Why has this author been drawn to Heiddeger’s ideas as they relate to today’s architects and their work?
Norberg-Shultz seems to have found Heiddeger’s ideas and philosophy truly intriguing for a number of reasons. Both men are interested in the historical linguistic analysis of words centered on the environment. They both even analyze the same poem, with similar results. Shultz expands on the phenomenological framework that Heidegger started, and also draws heavily from Venturi. He is more concerned with the spirit of place, and the tactile and sensual realization of architecture.
