NORBERG-SCHULTZ

Schultz was more drawn towards Heidegger’s  ideas so as to understand the meaning of “dwelling” and in turn relate it to the context of a “place”. Both authors seek answers for the same issue. Hence it is therefore understandable that Schultz is drawn to Heidegger’s ideas. Heidegger’s ideas are the driving point to Schultz analysis. Schultz analysis relates more to the phenomena of what affects the human dwelling and what makes the “place” a qualitative phenomena. He believes the quality of a space is achieved by the occupant’s interaction which in turn relates back to Heidegger’s idea. He focuses more on the inside-outside relationship and how this phenomena is slowly disappearing in today’s modern architecture.
