Legorreta

Legoretta’s use of color really stands out in both of his projects, he chooses vibrant shades to accentuate the spaces. They play off the colors of desert landscapes and make his massive forms more dynamic. These forms definitely respond to the climate by taking advantage of solar mass, orientation, and material. However,  I don’t see how these two buildings respond to culture, their scale and aesthetic cater to their function as hotels. This isn’t necessarily negative and it’s difficult to create a culturally sensitive structure with that type of program. Each seems to fit their purpose, but lack the connection you would expect from someone so passionate about his culture and people.
